ImpediMed’s SFB7 Selected for Use in the (US) Western States 36th Annual 100-Mile Endurance Run: June 27 – 28, 2009.

ImpediMed’s SFB7 bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) device has been selected by researchers for use in this elite 100-mile endurance event. The purpose of their study is to monitor changes in body weight and total body water (TBW) before, during, and after the completion of the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run (WS100) and to determine the association with race performance. Race performance also depends on maintaining normal blood sugar levels. An additional purpose of the investigation is to investigate food intake patterns prior to the race with the purpose of making nutrition and hydration recommendations to prevent race related health problems. Additional information on the race and the research can be found at http://ws100.com/research.htm
