Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) at the Intersection of Whole-Body Care
Tuesday, September 22, 7pm ET
Featured Faculty: Maureen McBeth, PT, CLT-LANA
Overview
Lymphedema care is increasingly tied to a broader view of patient health. In this free webinar, clinicians will explore how bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) can be used beyond a single measurement to support more comprehensive assessment, prospective surveillance, and clinical decision-making.
See how BodyComp™ and L-Dex® assessments work together to add insight into patient status and lymphedema management, how they can help facilities meet National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) standards, and how the FDA-cleared SOZO® Digital Health Platform supports body composition assessment—including identifying sarcopenia risk and enabling earlier clinical decision-making in cancer care.
Learning Objectives
In this NLN-sponsored webinar, participants will learn to:
- Describe how bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) can be applied beyond a single measurement to support comprehensive patient assessment and care.
- Explain how BodyComp™ and L-Dex® assessments work together to inform patient status, prospective surveillance, and lymphedema management.
- Identify how BIS-based assessment can support facilities working to meet NAPBC standards.
- Recognize the role of the FDA-cleared SOZO® Digital Health Platform in body composition assessment, including identifying sarcopenia risk and supporting earlier clinical decision-making in cancer care.

Maureen McBeth is a licensed physical therapist and certified lymphedema therapist with more than 30 years of experience in oncology rehabilitation, patient advocacy, and clinical education. She currently serves as Senior Training & Education Specialist at ImpediMed, where she supports the integration of bioimpedance spectroscopy into cancer care for the early detection and management of lymphedema, as well as the expanding use of body composition assessment across healthcare.
Maureen has held leadership roles in clinical practice, including serving as Program Manager for Cancer Care at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. She has been active in the lymphology community since 2004 and has worked with clinicians and industry partners to advance clinical practice and education.
A nationally recognized educator, Maureen has served as a primary instructor for the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy and has presented at major professional conferences, including the National Lymphedema Network, ACRM, and BC3. Her work has also appeared in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and she has contributed to international medical missions in Colombia and South Africa.
In this presentation, Maureen will discuss how BIS and body composition assessment can contribute to a more comprehensive view of the patient, with practical considerations for integrating these technologies into cancer rehabilitation and lymphedema care.
